Couples Therapy
According to research done by the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists, families and couples who have attended family or couples therapy sessions indicate high levels of patient satisfaction. Over 98 percent of those surveyed reported that they received good or excellent couple’s therapy, and over 97 percent of those surveyed said they got the help they needed. After working with a marriage or family therapist, 93 percent of patients said they had more effective tools for dealing with their problems. Respondents also reported improved physical health and the ability to function better at work after attending therapy. And takes less time than individual therapy.
Solution-focused therapy is a strength-based approach that typically works with clients for a brief amount of time. In working with clients, solution-focused therapy focuses on client’s strengths and resources instead of the client’s problems. Solution-focused counselors look for exceptions in the client’s problem saturated story. Through assistance of a counselor using SFT interventions, clients are able to develop and/or reveal the solutions to their problems which may carry over to their future decreasing anxiety and increasing happiness. Solution-focused therapy helps clients create a vision of how they want their future to look. Solution-focused therapy holds that clients are capable of changing their situation with resources that lie within in them. We use SFT here, as well as the Gottman Method, and other modalities, dependent on the needs of the couples.
